HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Batsari Local Government Education Authority was established in 1989 following the creation of additional Local Government.
The LGEA took up with the teaching and non teaching staff in the 76 Primary Schools that falls within Batsari District. Presently the LGEA has a total of 86 Primary Schools, 3 Pre-primary schools and a total of 512 workforces in which 96 are non teaching staff.
STRUCTURE
- The LGEA has a total of 86 Primary Schools and three pre-primary schools.
- There are total numbers of 271 classrooms across the LGEA.
- Office accommodations: The LGEA has a total number of 129 offices in the primary schools and 13 offices at LGEA Headquarters.
- Number of toilet: the LGEA has a total number of 68 toilet facilities in the schools and three toilets at LGEA Headquarters.
ENROLMENT
The total number of pupils enrolment in the LGEA is Twenty five thousand Two Hundred and forty Nine (25,249) out of which sixteen thousand, six hundred and twenty are Male (16620) while Eight thousand, six hundred and twenty Nine (8629 female).
NUMBER OF STAFF
There are four hundred and sixteen (416) teaching staff and ninety six (96) non teaching staff. This brings the total to five hundred and twelve (512).
OUSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS
From 1999-2007 the local Government has contributed immensely towards the revitalization of the Primary Education. Some of the outstanding achievements include among others.
- Rehabilitation of over 50 primary schools.
- Payment of exams fees.
- Assistance in the conduct of the examination.
- Building of 15 new primary schools out of which six have officially been commission.
- Subsidy on motorcycles loan scheme for the year 2004, 2005 and 2006 to the beneficiaries
- Introduction and payment of headquarters allowance of N2000 to each headmaster monthly.
- Assisting teaching and non-teaching staff with essential commodities every year during the month of Ramadan, and cow during 2 sallah festivals annually. has a total number of 129 offices .
- Purchase of science and technical education Board Entrance Examination forms in to JSS I since assumption of office.
- Provision of 10,000 copies of continues Assessment Booklets based on the National Policy on Education (Revised edition 2004) for our Primary Schools.
- Fencing of LGEA Headquarters with 2 Ultra Modern gates.
ROLE OF TRADITIONAL AND COMMUNITY LEADERS.
- Assisting in the mobilization of parents to send their wards to schools during yearly intake of pupils, as well as ensuring attendance.
- Offering necessary advice for the development of education in the local government as major stakeholders.
PTA ACHIEVEMENT :
- Fencing of Danwaire Science Model Primary School.
- Construction of furniture, toilet and rehabilitation/renovation of Nine Primary Schools.
UNIVERSAL BASIC EDUCATION PROJECT (UBEP)
Self project: Construction of toilets, furniture and renovation/rehabilitation of 5 Primary Schools year 2006.
EDUCATION TAX FUND
a. Construction of 3No. Block of two classrooms at three Primary Schools
B. Renovations and rehabilitation of six primary Schools.
c. Assisted with 361 three seaters continued desk and chairs to LGEA in 2006.
UNICEF
Assisted with 1 number motorcycle.
CHIROMA SHEHU FOUNDATION
- Purchase of 200 sciences and Technical Education Board Entrance Examination distributed to Primary Six Pupils.
- Vaccinated pupils at Batsari Model Primary School against worms.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT EMPOWERMENT MNGT PROJECT LEEMP
- Construction of six blocks of two classrooms and office.
- Construction of toilets.
- Construction of staff quarters.
- Provision of furniture to Ruma Primary School.
